North Coast 500
“In the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn”
– Jack Kerouac (author)
Ronde Bicycle Outfitters have decided heed the advice of the ‘godfather of road trips’ and cycle the 500 miles (actually 525 miles as we plan to detour down some back roads) of Scotland’s epic route The NC500. For more information on the route visit NC 500 website
The ride and accommodation is booked between 13 and 17 June 2016 in support of registered Scottish Charity – The Polar Academy.
We’d love you to join us – on the road
To inspire you to consider participating we’re also delighted to announce an event with TV broadcaster, adventurer, record breaking round the world cyclist and ultra endurance adventurer Mark Beaumont on the evening of Wednesday 20 April in Stockbridge.
Mark will be talking about his latest adventure cycling from Cairo to Cape Town plus giving some insight into his 37 hour ride of the the NC500. Mark NC500 video
Also taking to the microphone with Mark on 20 April, fresh from his latest Polar Academy expedition, is Scotland’s foremost Arctic explorer and ‘explorer in residence’ of the Scottish Geographical Society – Craig Mathieson.
If you’re looking for some inspiration, both these men are really worth listening to. Another good reason for attending is a drinks reception is also included in your ticket!
Mark is delaying posting the event on his social media to allow customers, members and friends of Ronde to get tickets first. If you’d like to attend what should be a great evening, don’t delay either head into Ronde and buy a ticket, or follow the link below to purchase tickets online. Tickets for the evening are £17.50 NB you will avoid online booking fees of approx £1.60 if you buy tickets in Ronde.
Recently retired pro-racer and friend of Ronde (James McCallum aka “Jimmy Mac”) now coach and directeur sportif for ONE Pro Cycling has announced he’s planning an attempt at Mark’s 37 hours for NC500 in aid of a selection of charities – on the same week as Ronde will be in the Highlands. Hopefully we’ll be able to cheer Jimmy on. He is also attending the event on 20 April in Edinburgh. Endurance solo rider verses a racer from the pro-peloton – who’s quicker over 500 miles? It could make for an interesting Q&A session with Mark!
Those opting to ride the NC500 with Ronde in June will receive a guaranteed complimentary ticket for the Mark Beaumont event on 20 April.
You can reserve your place on the NC500 by call or emailing Ronde (0131 620 9888, email@example.com)
